Round 1

Bill Haas
Has the early lead. Holding that through 72 Holes would be an enormous feat.
Adam Scott is 1 Stroke back - threatening to Repeat.

Playing in Traffic
Yes, Alien Machines have landed at Augusta. Lets hope they can save the Planet.
OK...not the planet - but hopefully the Tournament.
The worlds best players are getting slammed to the curb.
After one of the most brutal First Rounds in Masters History - we need help.

Like every other event on the tour this year.
Warm Weather means Firmer Greens and Tougher Conditions.
Let's hope they set the Pins in Friendly Places as they mow that grass.
Otherwise - players will keep hitting great shots that roll right off the greens.

Young Guns
McIlroy (-1). Spieth (-1) and Reed (+2) are paired for the first 2 Rounds.
Reed shot his mouth off - weeks ago - Anointing himself Top 5.
At a Pre Game Press Confernece
Rory mentioned there were No Top 5s in their Group.

Cock Fight?
At First I thought - WTF? is he walking through his line? But no, Spieth was away, but his ball was on the other side of the hole. However, judging from the body language - Mcilroy may not love the idea of a Rookie on tour getting more press than he does.

Checks His Ass Can't Cash
Were what Patrick Reed wrote when he shot off his big mouth a few weeks ago.
Saying he was Top 5 in the world - is coming back to bite him in the ass.
He is now Odd Man Out as Jordan and Rory go Toe to Toe each (-1).

Piggy Wiggly
(Patrick Reed) Choked on 3 Straight Bogies to Finish the Round (+2).
Missing a very make-able Par Put on 18 for the third.

e

Judging from his Reaction - he did not enjoy it.

Bubba - Really?
You all know how much I love Bubba - LOL. But to be fair - for once - he was humble and grounded in his Post Round interview. The bad news for him and hopefully good news for me - he is 1 for 8 when holding a Lead.

Jordan Spieth - History in the Making?
Pinch me!  I put $100 on Spieth at 40-1. At (-1) He hit a mind-blowing approach shot on 15 today for Eagle. That launched him to (-3) and into a spotlight that could burn a hole in a battle ship. He is tied for 3rd and paired with Adam Scott tomorrow - last years champion.
Talk about ...Pu Pu Pu Pressure?

Giant Killer
At 20 - he's already beaten - Tiger, Phill, Kuchar and today Mcilroy - when paired with those golf giants. Can he do it again tomorrow? - against the current world #1 Scott?
If Bubba falls - the kid actually has a chance to shock the world. He is already the first rookie to hold 3rd place during a round at the masters. Question is - if he wins - can he have a beer?

The Mighty have Fallen!
Here's a list of the worlds best players who missed the cut and will be watching the final on TV:

Phil, Simpson. Bradley, Luke Donald, Sergio, Cabrera,
Dustin Johnson, Zach Jonson, Els.

Oh Yeah - Almost forgot - Self Proclaimed Top 5 - Patrick Reed (8+)
Grab the remote and order some pizza big mouth!  You're free this weekend.

On the first page - Scott / Spieth / Couples.

And a Child Will Lead Them

Jordan Spieth
Is NOT a child.  But at 20 - he would be the youngest Masters Champion is history if he can pull off the greatest feat in all of sports - Hold a 54 Hole lead on Sunday - at The Masters.
His maturity and humble demeanor - have caused Spieth to be described as an old head on a young body. Despite his new found stardom and fame - he still refers to his elders as Mr. - Mr. Crenshaw etc. The unique thing about Jordan is that when he says Mr - he doesn't sound like Beaver Cleaver - it is respect not naivete.  He called Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson Mr.
Then he kicked their ass on the course. Kuchar called him a "little kid" before Spieth beat him in match play - he won't do that again. If he can keep his old head tomorrow - he will be rewarded with the most coveted jacket on the planet.

Carl Says
How has this Rookie, with a caddy who has never seen the course - Leading?
It reminds me of the movie  "The Greatest Game Ever Played". In the film - The powers that be tried to replace Ouimet's young caddie Eddie with an experienced bag man - to prepare him to win the US Open. Ouimet refused. Spieth's caddy had not seen the course at Augusta until last week. Spieth did not replace him either.

He did bring in help though. 67 year Carl Jackson has been caddying at Augusta since he was 16. He caddied for Ben Crenshaw - Spieth's Texas mentor. So, Jackson has been feeding Spieth and his caddy the breaks, reads and secrets of every hole on the course. When Spieth asked his caddies advice on a hole this weekend - he has been saying - "Well..Carl said.."   Jordan commented that he should just get him a Tshirt with "Carl Says" on it.

Numerology?
Not a believer - but this is a little spooky:
Every 17 years Since 1963
The Masters was Won by its youngest Champions
This year - 2014 - is 17 years from the Last time it Happened ?????

The Spieth Factor
I guess CBS just figured out what I wrote about on Friday. Spieth is a Giant Killer. CBS got it wrong though - only mentioning Tiger, Mcilroy and Scott. Here is the complet list of Gaints David (Jordan) has Slain.

Tiger Woods
Phil Mickelson
Matt Kuchar
Rory Mcilroy
Adam Scott

I asked by Buddy who was next after Mcilroy - then realized - Oh..Adam Scott. Check!
OK...Now who? Oh..Yeah.. Bubba Watson. Let's Hope!

Jordan Spieth $100 @ 40-1
Whether he goes on to win or not - He's already a winner. Leading the Tournament going into Sunday  - is enough. As much as I'd like to cash the $4000 ticket - Seeing him with a chance to win going into the Final Round on Sunday has already made my week.  He may Fade into the field or Make history! Either way - it was worth $100 just to be part of it.

Something Tells me Sunday will be Special.
