PEBBLE
US Opens are NOT played at the same venue every year like most tourneys. So, you have to look at the venue. Being good at US Opens "A la Brooks Keopka" at mock British Open links courses - may not translate into playing well at Pebble Beach.
Pebble Beach can be a brutal test of skill and endurance. I based this weeks picks on recent performances at Pebble and skill sets that fit the course.
CAUTION: With Keopka, Rory, DJ, Rose and Rahm in the field, you cant cover all the favorites. Historically, some the best will miss the cut. By the time I covered guys I'm staying on - Tiger, Xander, Cantlay, I'm over budget this week. Still adjusting to the new season and what seems like back to back majors.
ADVICE: Pick a few favorites and position bets, then wait for the cut - this is a good week for patience and live bets.
WEATHER
The forecast actually look good. Wind around 10 mph, mostly sunny, but temps in the mid 60s and moisture in the air all week. The course looks get-able. I think we see scores lower than expected. Especially by players who know "how" to play Pebble.
EXPERIENCE
With experience here at a premium, I like: Tiger, Phil and others below who have played well here. That includes some great long shots and position bets who have the right skill sets or good history at Pebble Beach.
RISING STARS
I am also staying on Cantlay and going big on Xander to capture his first major.
