GOLF PICKS THE US OPEN 2016
We ranked the entire field by Recent Finishes (Recent) and Performance at US Opens (History). I threw in how they finishes the last time the PGA played Oakmont in 2007 (This Course) for the few that were there and Driving Accuracy (DA) ranks for most of the big names. See Chart (Below)
Favorites
Like DJ, Day, Mcilroy and Fowler are expensive threats.
Of those only
Spieth, Rory, and Fowler
are ranked under 150th in Driving Accuracy. Open conditions still make luck a bigger factor in these opens that it should be. So, pick one Favorite under 10-1 for $50 so you can still cover some great value from the rest of the field. My fund manager from 2015 still recommends Spieth.
Matt Kuchar 40-1
Ranked highest overall. Not only is he top 5 in Recent and History and 28th in DA. He is top 50 or better in every stat other than Driving Distance. The big question is can he close? Kuchar has been pronounced Choker at the end of a lot of tourneys. But at 40-1 he's an affordable must cover.
Jordan Spieth 7-1
has has been missing fairways all year. He cant make up for that scrambling in this rough. However, he is currently 93rd in DA hitting a little over 60% of fairways. that along with his course management skills make him the top pick for me and the bookmakers
Henrik Stenson 40-1
is 9th in DA, has played well at opens and was 4th 2 weeks ago, He is a solid value at 40-1.
Russel Knox
He is due to win and 8th in DA. Something about this guy just screams winner to me.
At 100-1 I'll spend $10 not $5 on him.
Grey Beards
Like David Toms 5th here in 2007and currently 21st in DA have or at great odds 400-1. I'll throw 5 on him and Cabrerra - Not trending but still long and 1st here in 2007.
Oakmont 2007
featured a few players in the field this week worth consideration. Her is a list of those who finished well there.
